Maine Credit Union League Endorses Doug Thomas
Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2010

Recently the Maine Credit Union League's Political Involvement Committee met to review the questionnaires of candidates , as well as the legislative records of current legislators to determine their level of support for credit unions. That review included Maine Senate Candidate Doug Thomas of Ripley who is running in Senate District 27 including all of Piscataquis County, Southwest Somerset County, and Northern Penobscot County.

They found Rep. Doug Thomas was among a select group of candidates that the committee elected to endorse. His past, outstanding support for credit unions was a major factor in making that endorsement. He was invited to use the endorsement in his advertising or any other way he saw fit.

The Maine Credit Union League is very proud of the interest their officials have taken in civic life over the past few years. Some have learned new ways of participating in the political process through visits to the State House on Credit Union Day, job-shadowing legislators, or actively campaigning for friends of the credit union movement who run for office.

The Maine Credit Union League consists of 66 member credit unions and more than 610,000 members across the State of Maine. Rep. Thomas said he is honored to accept the League's endorsement and hopes to work with credit unions in the Maine Senate to improve our economy, and our quality of life.
